Tyler ISD swears in trustees, re-elects officers and names multiple principals and a chief of student support

The Tyler Independent School District Board of Trustees administered the oath of office to newly seated trustees and reorganized its leadership during the meeting.

Board Secretary Gina Orr and Board President Yvonne Atkins proctored the oath for incoming trustees, including Dr. Kendra Bartcher and Stephen Hubbard, each of whom repeated the oath to "faithfully execute the duties of the office of trustee of the Tyler Independent School District and of the state of Texas." After the oath, the board moved to nominate and re-elect Yvonne Atkins as Board President; Lindsey Harrison was nominated and elected Vice President; and Gina Orr was nominated and approved to continue as Board Secretary. Each motion was seconded and carried by voice vote.

Superintendent Dr. Crawford announced several personnel appointments. Tina Graham was introduced as principal of Bale Elementary; Steven Ladd was named principal at Bonner Elementary; Elizabeth Gomez was named principal at Douglas Elementary; Dr. Mayannine Smart was named principal at Griffin Elementary; Tamara Johnson was reassigned to Orr Elementary; and Brittany Thompson will join Caldwell Arts Academy as principal. In central office, Dr. Stephanie Cook was introduced as the district’s new chief of student support; Dr. Cook addressed the board and said she was honored to serve and "looking forward to supporting our campuses." The board recognized each appointee with applause.

The meeting also included an extended program of student recognitions and awards from across the district.
