It is such a beautiful thing to see our children's faces light up as they explore these places," she said, using the example to underscore the program's family-oriented benefits.
In the remarks, Vance also promoted a summer reading challenge aimed at children. She said participants are asked to "read 12 books, write them down, and submit your reading log to me online." In return, she said, participants will receive "a prize, a certificate, and the chance to visit us here in Washington, DC."
