Homewood High boys track and field honored after 6A state championship

Representative David Faulkner visited the Homewood City Council meeting May 18 to present a state House resolution congratulating the Homewood High School boys track and field team for winning the 2026 Alabama High School Athletic Association Class 6A State Outdoor Championship.
Faulkner read the resolution naming multiple state champions and noting Homewood scored 76.5 points to finish 8.5 points ahead of Northridge; the team qualified 25 athletes for the state meet and scored in 12 of 18 events. He praised the players and coaches and presented a framed resolution to be placed on the state legislator’s wall and provided copies for the team.
Mayor Jennifer Andress followed by reading a city proclamation recognizing the team’s second consecutive outdoor state title and commending athletes, coaches, school administrators, families and supporters for their dedication and sportsmanship. The proclamation listed the team’s accomplishments, event winners and coaching staff by name.
A coach spoke on behalf of the team, thanked the athletes and coaches for their work and emphasized the players’ commitment; the council invited the athletes and coaching staff forward for photos and applause.
The council praised the team and coaches and adjourned after brief community announcements.
