The Mukwonago School District board on May 18 moved through a series of administrative and operational actions, approving personnel changes, contract designations and plan adjustments by voice vote.
Personnel: The board accepted the retirement of Lori Borchard, a sixth-grade teacher at Prairie View Elementary, effective June 30, 2026.
Finance and depositories: The board designated the Washar Freeman as the district’s official newspaper (as read at the meeting) and approved Citizens Bank and the Local Government Investment Pool as official depositories for 2026–2027.
Contracts and programs: The board approved continuing YMCA operation of before- and after-school daycare at Big Bend and Prairie View for the next two school years, allowed Kids Connection to continue operations in Clariden/Rolling Hills/Eagleville, and said staff will continue to evaluate a new vendor (Innovation Learning).
Benefits: The board approved recommended 2026–27 health insurance plan adjustments, including a 15% increase in single-family plan premiums and modified co-pays as outlined in the board memo.
Reporting and curriculum: The board voted to sunset the elementary progress reports and move toward a consistent conference guide and more detailed report-card comments; staff said the change is intended to allow teachers to focus conference time on meaningful conversation with families.
Student activities: The board approved an extended trip for HOSA to attend the International Leadership Conference in Indianapolis June 17–21 with advisor Christy Peterson listed as organizer/chaperone.
All motions in this package were made, seconded and approved by voice vote. Where specific vote tallies were read, they were not recorded in the publicly posted transcript. Several speakers in public comment urged more scrutiny of district purchases cited in a public-records request; administration maintained that staff will monitor budgets and program implementation going forward.
Next steps: For several items (insurance, childcare contracts, and sunsetting progress reports), administration will implement the approved changes and report back to the board as required by policy.
