The Vandalia City Council on May 18 approved Resolution 26‑R32, awarding the Vandalia Recreation Center pool resurfacing contract to Swim Safe Pool Management at a bid price of $133,750.
Parks and Recreation staff said the indoor pool’s plaster surface had deteriorated and required resurfacing to maintain safety and functionality. The work scope described at the meeting includes removal of old plaster, surface preparation, application of a hydrazo finish, tile and expansion joint replacement, new drain covers, lighting reinstallation, acid wash, and cleanup and startup treatment.
Only one contractor submitted a bid; Parks and Recreation recommended awarding the contract to Swim Safe Pool Management based on price and prior experience. Councilwoman Bradford moved to approve the resolution; Council Member Hathaway seconded. The roll call was unanimous, 7–0.
Funding for the work was described as coming from city capital funds. The council authorized the contract award; construction scheduling and completion dates were not specified in the meeting record.
