Midway ISD board approves principal appointment, sidewalk easement, 2% compensation plan and elects officers

The Midway ISD Board of Trustees approved several administrative items and elections during its May meeting.
Principal appointment: Administration recommended Christy Ingram as principal of Spring Valley Elementary and the board approved the superintendent’s recommendation. The motion to accept the appointment was made by Mr. Alfred, seconded by Miss Watts and the board voted in favor. Administration said Ingram brings experience from other districts and will be formally introduced at the campus.
Easement donation: The board approved a resolution to convey a sidewalk easement to the City of Woodway to support sidewalks and bike‑path connectivity near Woodway Elementary. Administration and the city said existing large oak trees in the area will remain and that the easement will facilitate safer pedestrian routes to campus.
Compensation plan: Administration asked trustees to authorize no more than $2 million for the district’s 2026–27 compensation package, described as including a 2 percent general pay increase plus market adjustments and incentives. The board approved the compensation plan in a recorded voice vote.
Officer elections and oath: Trustees completed required reorganization and officer elections. Susan Vic was nominated and elected board president; Pam Watts was elected vice president and Colin Wit was elected secretary. Earlier in the meeting newly appointed trustee Stephen Carl took the oath of office.
Consent agenda: The board approved the consent agenda, which included minutes, student travel items, budget amendments and technology contracts among other routine items.
What happens next: Administration will implement the approved compensation plan for 2026–27, introduce the new principal to the Spring Valley campus and coordinate sidewalk construction with the City of Woodway as the city proceeds with its work.
