Staff are also developing predictive analytics to overlay crash history with speed data to identify hot spots for directed enforcement.
“Crashes are still coming down from the normal winter peak,” the police department representative said, and added the unit had increased personnel so “enforcement more directed enforcement on that number should be going up.” The representative warned about dangerous high‑speed e‑bikes, saying the department has seen “quote unquote e‑bikes that are going 67 mph that are not e‑bikes” and stressed continued public education on helmet use and vehicle choices.
The report also included a safety reminder about leaving children and pets in hot cars. Committee discussion was limited to clarifying questions; no formal changes to the report were proposed. A motion to accept the report and place it on file passed by voice vote; the transcript records verbal “I” responses but does not list a roll‑call tally.
