Parents ask Verona board for full in-person geometry at Savannah Oaks, say blended model shortchanges advanced learners

O’Brien said the proposal — in which geometry students would receive in‑person instruction for half of a period while working independently for the other half — raises four concerns: reduced instructional time and teacher access; inconsistency with geometry instruction at Badger Ridge and other middle schools; practical learning-environment issues where independently working students could be distracted; and negative implications for the district’s advanced‑learner program.
The parent group asked the board to reconsider and to explore solutions that would give Savannah Oaks geometry students the same full-period instruction their peers receive at other schools. The board chair acknowledged the comment, clarified that routine public comment periods do not include extended board discussion unless the item is noticed on the agenda, and said staff typically follows up after meetings.
No board action on the geometry staffing model was recorded at the meeting; the comment was taken during the public-comment portion of the agenda and referred to district staff for follow-up.
