Fidler also summarized continuing‑education expectations he tracks for board members, saying that in North Carolina school‑board members generally must complete 12 hours of training every two years and at least two hours of ethics training within 12 months after an election. He told the committee those requirements support continuing education and encouraged members to use the network’s free materials or on‑site training for credit.
Board member Katherine Cook commended the webinars and the written summaries for members who cannot attend live sessions, and asked whether South Carolina‑focused sessions would be adapted for North Carolina audiences; Fidler said sessions are typically segmented by state and the upcoming conference will include national content as well.
