Students, music and theater programs lauded as district marks fundraising and statewide recognition

An American Heart Association representative, Molly, told the board the district raised $161,377.95 through AHA programs this year and has a lifetime fundraising total of $2,579,372 since 1999; she noted Ebenezer Elementary and a PE teacher known in the record as "Mr. Bear" have contributed to Ebenezer crossing $1 million in lifetime fundraising.
Mr. Thomas, quiz bowl advisor, recognized the Cedar Crest teams for qualifying for the NAQT High School National Championship Tournament in Atlanta and recounted the teams finishes in regional competition. Music staff recognized multiple student honors: Jared Dalbert received a PMEA citation of excellence and students Evan Garmin and Carter Weiny earned All‑State ensemble placements; the district was also recognized by the National Association of Music Merchants as a Best Community for Music Education for the 11th consecutive year.
Assistant Principal Mr. Snyder presented Rotary students of the month and co‑seniors of the year Abena Obubisa and Tanner Zimmerman; Abena told the board she will attend Vanderbilt University and plans to study biomedical engineering.
These recognitions preceded routine agenda business; the board recessed to greet students and their families before resuming formal votes.
