Council appoints new members to planning commission and multiple advisory committees
Summary
Council filled vacancies on the Planning Commission and several advisory committees by ballot; Mark Crossman and Philip Duza were appointed to the Planning Commission and Vetta Malypsa secured the third seat after a runoff. Rancho Palos Verdes City Council completed a series of ballots and announced appointments to the Planning Commission and city advisory committees.
After councilmembers submitted ballots and staff tallied the results, Mark Crossman and Philip Duza received the highest counts for the Planning Commission seats; a further ballot selected Vetta Malypsa for the remaining opening. Council members read votes into the record and confirmed the selections.
Council also appointed members to the Emergency Preparedness Committee (including Don Campbell, Lee, Elizabeth Peterson, Diane Robinson and Valter Van Bein), the Civic Center Advisory Committee (Golar Boray, Paul Close, and Greg O’Brien), the Finance Advisory Committee (Emily Kovville, Jonathan Jung, and Totan Radkkey), the Traffic Safety Committee (John Howland and John Thai) and the Information/Media Advisory Committee (IMAC) with top vote‑getters including Peter Shaw and others. One IMAC appointee was assigned to an unexpired vacancy.
Staff recorded the ballots and will notify the appointees of terms and start dates. Council directed staff to prepare the official rosters for posting and to process any required oath or orientation materials.
