District technology staff presented the required sealed-bid process for disposing of end-of-lease technology and recommended awarding the sale to the high bidder.
Staff said they publicly advertised the request and received eight sealed bids. The evaluation prioritized the vendor's guaranteed purchase price; Total Technology submitted the top guaranteed offer at $571,000. Staff noted the vendor will grade returned units (A-D) and the final proceeds may exceed the guaranteed amount depending on device condition. Total Technology will sanitize devices to NIST standards and recycle non-resellable units to ISO standards.
Proceeds will be credited to the district technology fund to help pay ongoing device lease costs. Staff said they will begin device collection and removal the week of June 22 if the board approves the sale at next week's consent agenda.
Board members asked about vendor deductions (for missing items or damage) and whether staff prepare devices for sale; staff confirmed tech teams remove stickers and prepare units to maximize buyback value. The recommended sale was placed on next week's consent agenda for board approval.
