Lakeville board certifies special-election returns, thanks election staff

The Lakeville Area Schools Board met in a special session May 19 to canvass the results of last week's special election and formally accept the returns.
Chair Amber Cameron opened the meeting and called for the canvass. The board was told 6,880 voters participated and that the ballot question passed with 3,717 votes in favor. Director Kim Baker moved to approve the resolution canvassing the return of votes; the board conducted a roll-call vote and the motion passed.
Board members publicly thanked the team that ran the election, including district communications staff, the assistant to the superintendent, middle school principals and teachers, absentee and precinct election judges, and Dakota and Scott Counties for election support. The board also recognized community voters for participating in the referendum.
After the canvass, the board promptly adjourned the special meeting and convened its scheduled work session.
