The facilities committee reviewed a proposal to replace the auditorium carpet at Rner High School. Administration said the existing carpet shows extensive rips and fraying across the seating area and that the last documented replacement occurred during a renovation in 1996, meaning the material has been in place roughly three decades.
A flooring committee that included drama and music teachers recommended a black-and-gray patterned carpet for the aisles and solid black on the stair treads; the area in front of the stage will be finished with a non-carpeted tile surface to accommodate instruments and frequent movement of equipment. The scope includes removal, floor patching, carpet installation and tile work. Administration said the project is included in the district’s capital plan and is scheduled to take place in the summer so completion occurs before convocation rehearsal.
Committee members asked about warranties and timing; administration said contractor warranty details would be provided to the committee after the meeting and confirmed the work would be done over the summer. The committee voted to forward the recommendation to the full board for business-meeting consideration.
