The sheriff presented the contract and said Copus requested the PRN arrangement so she can continue pursuing RN education; the sheriff said another nurse, Mandy Whitfield, will transition from PRN to full-time, creating an overall staffing wash. The sheriff also reported six new jailers started that morning but said the county still had multiple nurse and jailer vacancies in active recruitment.
Commissioner Wingo moved to approve the contract; the court approved the motion by voice vote. The sheriff said the contract will be managed to maintain continuity of medical services in the jail while supporting staff training and licensure goals.
