Commissioners approve temporary closure of 2C Road for Breamman Missionary Church Vacation Bible School
Summary
The board authorized the temporary closure of 2C Road (Elm to Washington) from 5:30–8:30 p.m. June 1–4 to allow Vacation Bible School activities after neighbors and the town manager indicated support.
The Marshall County Board of Commissioners on Tuesday authorized a temporary closure of 2C Road just north of Breamman Missionary Church so the church can safely supervise children during evening Vacation Bible School.
Pastor Kurt Litweiler told the board the church expects about 80 children for Vacation Bible School June 1–4 and has purchased a nearby lot to provide play space. He said church leaders notified neighbors and that town manager Keith Frame supported a temporary evening closure rather than a permanent shutdown. The proposal covered Elm to Washington from approximately 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. each night.
A commissioner moved to authorize the closure for the four evenings and a second carried the motion. The board recorded the voice vote and approved the temporary closure with the condition that the church notify the county and be placed on the agenda each year to make the closure official.
The board advised the church to place barriers shortly before the event window each night and to coordinate setup and takedown with the town manager.
