Rich reports county road damage, awards striping bid to Gameline

Rich told the Worth County Board of Supervisors that crews have been doing storm cleanup on the west side of the county and along Route 38 and that no widespread structural damage to homes has been reported.

He presented two bids for the county's annual striping program: Gameline at $175,832.74 and Vogel at $223,144.50. "We've got roughly 75 miles of paint on our list," Rich said, and identified Gameline as the apparent low quoter. The board voted to proceed with Gameline for the striping work.

Rich also said a contractor requested an earlier preconstruction meeting and wants to begin work on Basic Materials Road on June 1; he noted there will be no detour for that road and that access to other locations would be maintained via Avenue 9. He described site logistics for a section near the quarry and emphasized the contractor will keep access open for local traffic.

On county facilities, Rich reported progress on a shop/fuel station grant project and that Cresco Builders appears to be doing the raised‑seam roofing; he said framing and some plumbing are underway at the secondary roads maintenance facility and that most of the concrete walls are already erected.

Why it matters: the striping contract affects driving safety across dozens of miles of county roads, near-term construction affects traffic access for residents and a quarry operator, and the maintenance facility work represents a capital investment that will support future road operations.

The board took no other action on streets beyond approving the apparent low bidder and scheduling the contractor's preconstruction work to proceed.
