He noted the council is handling a variety of support activities and that staff in the county veterans office refer veterans to the council as needed.
Director Ely also flagged two upcoming events: a Memorial Day ceremony on May 25 at 11:00 a.m. on the courthouse square, and a health and veterans fair scheduled Sept. 12 at Musgrave Park from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. He told the committee about a new Tennessee Department of Veterans Services web‑based resource designed to connect veterans across all 95 counties, calling it “a huge program” for linking veterans to services.
The committee approved the veterans report by voice vote.
Next steps: staff will continue outreach and commissioners noted the county will promote the Memorial Day ceremony and the fall veterans fair.
