Shoreham-Wading River voters approve budget and three propositions; trustees certified

Voters in the Shoreham-Wading River Central School District approved the district budget and three propositions in the May election, and the board certified the results at its May 19, 2026 regular meeting, district officials said.
District clerk Miss Cerseus announced the tallies: Proposition 1 (the budget) — 800 yes, 203 no; Proposition 2 (Predell Middle School land conveyance/dedication) — 819 yes, 167 no; Proposition 3 (support for the Wading River Historical Society and Museum) — 658 yes, 334 no. The board also recorded trustee vote totals: Daniel Maguire 455; Erin Sanders Morano 595; Henry Perez 538; Jesse Sidewitz 373; Katie Anderson 556; and 17 write-in votes (individual write-in totals were not specified).
"I just want . . . to thank the community for supporting the school district and the budget and our students and our programs," Superintendent Mr. Pool said, expressing appreciation to voters and congratulating returning and newly elected trustees.
After certifying the election results, the board moved through its regular agenda, approving the April 2026 treasurer's report, a CPSE/CSE/504 meeting summary memo dated May 6, 2026, and adopting a policy on second reading. The board approved three board resolutions (numbered in the meeting as 2526208 through 2526210) and took a single motion to approve six curriculum resolutions listed as 2526211 through 2526216.
Board members also approved a human-resources resolution and an annual block of business and operations resolutions (listed as 2526218 through 2526244) covering routine vendor and service arrangements such as insurance coverage, a third-party 403(b) administrator, auditing firms, check processing, and related services. The personnel agenda was approved and the district clerk reported no additional communications.
The board president thanked the Shoreham-Wading River community for supporting the budget and propositions and welcomed trustees Morano, Perez and Anderson to the board. The meeting was adjourned.
