The Cottage Grove Library Board voted May 20 to deactivate its facilities subcommittee, citing reduced workload after the library design phase and administrative overhead.
Library board president (name not stated) explained the subcommittee had been useful during early design and referendum discussions but has not met in about a year. "Deactivating kind of removes that administrative burden," the president said, noting the group can be reactivated by placing it on a future agenda and going through the appointment process.
Board member Megan moved to deactivate the facilities subcommittee; Sarah Fer seconded. The motion carried following a voice vote, with one abstention recorded during an earlier minutes approval vote. The board also approved the April 15, 2026 minutes earlier in the meeting.
The board then approved the vouchers listed on the agenda after a motion by Megan and a second by Ellie. The president said the current fiscal-year programming budget remains adequate to cover the board’s planned events.
Before adjourning to closed session, the president announced two board appointment outcomes: Sarah Fer was recommended by the library board and appointed by the village board after a follow-up call for volunteers; Megan was reappointed to her seat.
The board entered closed session for a mid‑year review of library staff "pursuant to Wisconsin statute 19.85(1)(c)," the agenda stated; a roll-call vote was conducted and the body moved into the separate closed-session Zoom as announced. No personnel details were discussed in open session.
The meeting was hybrid (in-person at Village Hall and online via Zoom) and the next regular meeting was set for June 17 at 6 p.m. at Village Hall.
