Sarpy County commissioners approved a one‑year professional services agreement with Lockton for employee benefits broker services in the amount of $170,000.
Human Resources Director Jody Redell told the board the county issued a request for qualifications in March, received nine submissions, and that HR and fiscal staff independently evaluated proposals. After interviews, Lockton was unanimously recommended as the firm best positioned to partner with the county. Redell said Lockton presented a multi‑year strategic approach, independent pharmacy consulting, data‑collection and analytics tools, and specialized resources such as actuaries, wellness consultants, and pharmacy consultants.
Nathan (Nate) Shada, Lockton senior vice president, introduced the firm, described its family‑owned structure within the top brokers nationally, and outlined services the firm would provide including a data warehouse for claims and demographic analysis, wellness program support, pharmacy consulting, and actuarial support. Commissioners asked about prior county work and the challenge of monetizing voluntary wellness programs; the firm said it has public‑sector experience and a dedicated public‑sector practice.
After discussion, commissioners moved and passed a motion to approve the agreement; the procurement record and RFQ process were acknowledged by the board.
