Commissioners approve four proclamations and a Parker Township permit

The Morrison County Board of Commissioners on May 19 adopted four proclamations and approved a Parker Township conditional‑use permit during its regular meeting.

The board unanimously adopted proclamations recognizing National Drug Court Month (the county’s drug court began in 2014 and has worked with 109 individuals), Military Spouse Month (presented by Veteran Service Office staff Christina Bombberg, Jim Segler and Nick Potter), Foster Care Month (county social services reported 25 licensed child foster families and additional adult foster care capacity), and Emergency Medical Services Week (May 17–23) to honor volunteer and career first responders. Each proclamation was moved and seconded and adopted by voice vote.

In a separate land‑use action, the board approved a conditional‑use permit to expand a Parker Township town hall. Planning staff said the expansion had been recommended by the planning commission, that there were no water or sewer concerns, and that the township obtained necessary variances for road‑setback encroachment. The board recorded a roll‑call for the Parker Township motion; Commissioners Lamir, Winer, Ban and Casper voted in the affirmative and the chair recorded an affirmative vote; the motion carried.

Why it matters: proclamations are ceremonial but reflect county priorities and local partnerships; the Parker Township vote is a final land‑use approval that allows the township’s expansion plans to proceed.

Board members briefly thanked the presenters and invited groups to take photos following the votes. No budget approvals tied to the proclamations were recorded at the meeting.
