Council approves election agreement, street resurfacing contract and mural board appointments
Summary

At its May 18 meeting the North Augusta City Council approved several procedural items and consent items.
Election ordinance 2026-10: Council authorized an agreement allowing the Aiken County Board of Voter Registration and Elections to administer city elections. Councilmember Kevin Toole moved the ordinance on first reading; Pat Carpenter seconded. City Attorney Kelly Zier described it as a procedural matter; the council approved the measure unanimously.
Street resurfacing (Resolution 2026-30): Engineering/Public Works staff presented the 2026 street resurfacing package, funded by state CTC allocations and capital projects sales tax revenues. The resolution authorized a construction contract not to exceed the listed funding amounts and included a final project list of roads for paving. The council approved the resolution unanimously.
Mural Design Review Board appointments (Resolution 2026-31): Council nominated and unanimously approved two appointees to the newly constituted Mural Design Review Board. The appointees are Mel Lambert, owner of Bevel Edge framing on Georgia Avenue, and Matt Porter, executive director of Westobou. The city held separate votes for each nominee and then voted on the resolution containing both names.
