Pine County ratifies several staff resignations, approves backfills and a position regrade

The Pine County Board approved personnel committee recommendations to ratify several resignations and to authorize backfill of affected positions.
The personnel committee reported it ratified the resignation of property appraiser Shawn O'Reilly effective May 7, 2026, and approved backfill of the position and any vacancies resulting from internal moves. The board also ratified the resignations of corrections officers Joseph or Jackson Workman and Devon Nylen effective May 14, and ratified the resignation of intake social worker Kim Baxter (effective May 7, 2026). It also ratified the resignation of children's mental health social worker Jerry Lynn Larson effective June 3, 2026, and authorized backfill of those positions as needed.
Public Works reported and the board approved a regrade of the building supervisor/maintenance supervisor position from grade 11 to grade 12 with an updated job description and no immediate pay change. A motion to approve the personnel committee recommendations was moved and seconded and adopted by voice vote.
Commissioners also referred a separate workplace-animals policy discussion to the personnel committee after a report of an employee bringing a dog past security.
