Council discussion noted roughly $112,000 of the project may be funded from liquid fuels allocations distributed by the county; the manager said the county allocates state road-tax funds to municipalities for local road improvements.
The motion to award the road contract was made and carried after a roll-call vote. Council members present recorded their support during the roll call and the chair announced the motion carries.
Separately, council approved Resolution 2026-05, a formal request to the Commonwealth Finance Authority for a $500,000 flood mitigation grant to support the ongoing Madison Avenue flood mitigation project. The resolution passed on a roll-call vote.
Both items were placed on the meeting agenda as normal business items and carried without amendment. The borough manager said the Madison Avenue sewer work must accelerate because a portion of that funding needs to be spent by September; the engineer is preparing bids and project schedules to meet that timeline.
No council member requested further study before the awards, and council did not attach additional conditions to the grant request. The contracts and grant application are now part of the borough’s active capital and infrastructure program.
