Millbrook Minute: field trips, music festival, special-education survey and student honors

Mr. Cabello, speaking for the middle school, congratulated spring athletes who "signed our athletic wall" and said teams are reviewing MTSS data to plan for next year; he also noted a sixth-grade visit to Alden Place to meet incoming students and said transition information will be sent to families.

Mr. Cedar Mark reported that Alden Place fifth graders visited the Carry Institute to explore woodland and aquatic ecosystems, praised teachers and families for a successful open house, and thanked the Milbrook Music Salon along with Miss Rubin and Mrs. Doni for arranging a post-Memorial Day performance in the all-purpose room.

Mrs. Lynch of Elm Drive said the spring music festival attracted families, described a red-white-and-blue spirit parade and the "blue ribbon blazer" recognitions for students who demonstrated purpose, ethics, acceptance, community and evolution, and named Mrs. Samantha Bop as the staff nominee. She reminded families of an open house on May 28 from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m.

Mrs. Naardi in the PPS office urged families to complete a special-education survey emailed to them and to contact the PPS office if they did not receive the link; she also recognized Speech-Language Pathologist Day and thanked district SLPs Miss McKeon and Miss Kelly for their work.

Dr. Watkins said Superintendent Hernandez and Principal Scythe attended the county distinguished-students breakfast and honored valedictorian Dylan Vasquez and salutatorian Lydia Cassac. He added that, following the budget pproval, families of students currently receiving Tier 2 and Tier 3 services in kindergarten through the grade entering sixth grade will receive information about summer scholars.
