Kootenai County commissioners approved the sale of a 25,166‑square‑foot parcel adjacent to previously purchased airport property to the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue unit and approved the title/warranty documents to transfer ownership.
Staff presented the action as Resolution 2026‑60 and said the purchase was included in the FY26 budget on both the sheriff and airport sides. Staff stated the purchase price as $160,000, described in the record as 90% of the property value. “This purchase was approved in the FY26 budget both on its sheriff side and airport side and the purchase price is 160,000 which is 90% of the value for that property,” a staff member explained. Commissioners approved the sale and the board also approved the warranty/title paperwork to effect the transfer.
Staff said the additional parcel was sought so the sheriff’s search and rescue group would not have to pay ongoing lease costs and that the parties negotiated terms agreeable to both sides. The board’s approval allows county staff to complete the conveyance and record title to KCSO Search and Rescue.
