Historical Society asks city for exterior sign, marquee, security and curator funding for Mount Holly Museum
Summary
Staff told the council the Mount Holly Historical Society requested an exterior sign relocation, a replacement marquee (~$3,800), interior security cameras (~$20,000) and potential curator staffing (estimated $25,000–$85,000); staff said the sign relocation can be done in-house and stood ready to return with options.

Brian Dupont briefed the council on three requests presented earlier by the Mount Holly Historical Society (represented to council by its president, Mr. Jacob): relocation of an interior house sign to the exterior on Central Avenue, replacement of the museum marquee and door wording, and staffing plus interior security cameras.
Dupont said staff found the interior sign could be removed and reinstalled on the exterior in-house. He provided an approximate replacement cost of about $3,800 to replace the Mount Holly Museum marquee and add the Historical Society’s name or logo to the museum door. For security, staff obtained quotes through IT estimating about $20,000 to adequately secure the museum interior with cameras. On staffing, Dupont said the city’s HR director had evaluated curator scenarios; total compensation for a curator ranged roughly from $25,000 (part time) up to $85,000 (full-time, depending on experience and benefits).
Dupont asked whether the council had questions; no formal action was taken during the work session. The council’s discussion focused on feasibility, who would bear the cost, and next steps; Dupont said staff can return with more detail if council directs.
