A county department head presented a staffing report on May 19 and requested permission to refill five positions due to transfers and departures; the board moved, seconded and approved the refill requests by roll call.
Later, staff presented a fairgrounds rental-fee waiver application and agreement intended to document and formalize prior fee waivers related to events that had been scheduled before county control of the fairgrounds. Staff said legal advised the county to adopt a commission-approved form rather than a staff-created form to ensure compliance. The board approved the form by motion and roll call.
Commissioners described the form as a short-term procedural step to cover prescheduled events and said a longer-term policy conversation about fee waivers would be scheduled at a later date.
