Haley, events staff, told the Parks and Recreation Commission the city will host a Fourth of July drone show at Fox Glenn with a 9:00 p.m. launch and a family‑oriented activation on the adjacent multi‑purpose and soccer fields.
She said the city is working on park‑and‑ride service from the Flagstaff Mall (Dillard’s lot) and NAU P‑lots, and has identified roughly 490 off‑site parking spaces as part of a reservation system; the city expects to price parking at about $5 per vehicle and to reserve on‑site ADA parking without charge. Haley said the city will close Butler Street to through traffic in localized segments, implement a hard closure at Fourth Street and Butler, and allow local vehicles to access neighborhoods inside the closures.
Haley described event staffing and public‑safety coordination with Flagstaff Police Department and emergency management, and told commissioners the city will publish a web landing page with parking reservation QR codes and campaign messaging ahead of the event; some parking lots such as certain FUSD or private lots will not be available. The city will also operate a shuttle on a 30‑minute frequency until 8 p.m. and stack buses at Fox Glenn for mass exit after the show.
Commissioners and staff discussed options for bike valet, drop‑off locations and how to communicate that passenger pickup/drop‑off and ride‑hail access will require walking from alternate locations because direct vehicle access to the park will be restricted. No formal action was taken at the meeting.
