The Berlin Area School District Board of Education reorganized its leadership at its meeting, electing Garrett Piazza president and Mr. Ardoin vice president, and confirming a slate of clerks, treasurers and committee assignments.
Board members moved through nominations for officers at the start of the meeting. Garrett Piazza was nominated for president and approved by a voice vote; Mr. Ardoin was nominated and approved as vice president. The board then approved Sarah Petal as clerk, Rick Gerke as treasurer and Trisha as deputy clerk. Nick Bartel was named the district legislative network representative and Sarah Noble was approved as the CESA representative. A motion to approve the consent agenda also passed by voice vote.
The board also discussed consolidating committees so related topics meet together; the current structure lists finance, personnel and building/grounds (members: Nick, Rick, Jim, Catherine) and a combined policy, instruction and public relations team (Beth, Katrina, Mike, Sarah, Allison). Members said they plan to hold policy work in one or two summer sessions to leave school-year meetings focused on instruction and public relations.
No roll-call tallies were recorded in the transcript; motions were handled by standard voice vote with outcomes recorded as "motion carried." The district indicated committee meeting dates and any policy-session scheduling will be communicated to members via email ahead of the summer work period.
The board adjourned after routine business and several recognitions later in the agenda.
