Jonathan Dove, the district's food service director, presented updated meal-account figures. He said student lunch debt had dropped to $21,638.90 and staff debt to $2,718.85. Dove explained that the larger student total is a "rollover" figure for current enrolled students who will carry balances into the next school year unless those balances are paid over the summer. On the question of the $1,900 in waived balances under consideration, he said about $1,500 of that amount relates to students who left the district and the remainder to students who have since moved onto free or reduced-price status and could not pay prior balances.
After discussion, the administration recommended the child nutrition program absorb the $1,992.18 negative balance, a motion was made and the board voted in favor. The board’s action was procedural and described in the meeting record as "motion carried."
