The Harrison School District Board of Education voted to approve a set of personnel policy revisions affecting licensed and classified employees, the board heard at its regular meeting.
Administration and the licensed PPC recommended edits to board policies 3.1 and 3.1A including removing the qualifier "district-level" from mentor language, striking references to a preschool coordinator and to an assistant superintendent position no longer in place, and adding specific contract-day counts for administrative positions. The recommended changes also reclassify how Alternative Learning Environment (ALE) directors are compensated, including a $2,500 supplemental salary for a district ALE director. Classified PPC recommended a companion change to classified policy 8.5.4 to align the incentive language.
On policy 3.8.4, the licensed PPC asked the board to allow the superintendent, with board action, to waive the district's retirement-notice stipend deadlines in exceptional circumstances. The administration offered a scenario—sudden or medical retirements—where a board action would permit awarding the full stipend to a departing employee who could not meet established notice deadlines.
Administrators said the net fiscal impact of the personnel shifts is minimal. Administration described the total annual effect as "less than $1,000 a year." The board moved, seconded and voted to adopt the listed policy changes; members voiced their support and the motions carried.
The revisions will take effect according to district policy-implementation procedures and will be reflected in updated board policy documents distributed to staff and posted with district policy materials.
