During the finance committee report May 19, the board approved several finance and procurement motions, including a one-time employee retention bonus and two technology contract awards.
The board approved using $1.3 million in unobligated surplus operating funds to provide a discretionary retention bonus to eligible employees by June 30, 2026. The approved structure: a $500 discretionary retention bonus for all full-time contracted employees who are currently employed and returning for the 2026–27 school year (also available to full-time contracted employees retiring at the end of the current school year), and a $250 discretionary retention bonus for permanent part-time assigned employees paid from the classified pay scale returning for 2026–27. The motion was presented as part of the Finance Committee report and carried by voice vote.
The board also approved a $225,250 contract award to E-Plus Technology Inc. for a telecommunications upgrade project and approved a contract to CDW Government LLC for technology devices and equipment with a contract cap not to exceed $2 million during the term and $600,000 for any single project. Those motions were moved and seconded during the finance committee portion of the meeting and approved by voice vote.
These approvals provide funding and procurement authority for near-term retention payments to staff and for planned technology upgrades; the motions do not specify the detailed distribution lists or project-level purchase orders, which staff will implement under the limits approved by the board.
