The Liberty Lake Civil Service Commission on May 14 agreed to establish a lateral selection list for the Liberty Lake Police Department and scheduled interviews for June 3, the commission heard.
Chief Examiner reported that the department currently has no open positions but is creating a lateral list so qualified candidates will be available when vacancies occur. “We are establishing a lateral selection list, and interviews will be held on June 3rd. We don't have any open positions currently. We're just establishing a list,” the Chief Examiner said.
The commission also heard that the department plans to establish promotional lists for corporal and sergeant in July. The chief examiner framed those steps as administrative preparations to ensure candidate pools are ready when needed.
Earlier in the meeting the commission excused Commissioners Mulch and Van Landingham, who were absent because of other commitments; a motion to excuse them was moved, seconded and approved unanimously. The commission then approved the minutes from its April 9, 2026 meeting; the transcript does not record a vote tally for that approval. No members of the public provided comment. The meeting was adjourned after a motion to close.
