Haverford board honors 22 retirees and celebrates robotics and physics wins

The Haverford Township School District board used part of its May 21 meeting to recognize long-serving staff and student accomplishments.
Superintendent Dr. Hayes and board members recognized 22 retirees whose combined service totals 523 years. The district named several retirees and their years of service during the meeting, including Sue Fairman (28 years), Kimberly Kennedy (31 years), Joan McCall (23 years), Marge Dockerty (7.5 years), Jim Oul (27 years) and Chris Coffee (36 years). The board thanked retirees for sustained service to students and families.
The board also spotlighted student achievements: the district’s FIRST Robotics team finished third in its division at the world championship in Houston, Texas, and the physics team placed first in a regional competition (American Association of Physics Teachers Bowl) representing Pennsylvania and Ohio. Superintendent Hayes noted the high school will livestream graduation on June 4 at St. Joseph’s University for 499 seniors and reminded the community of the district’s fourth annual diversity career fair on June 1 at the middle school.
Board members and student representatives expressed appreciation for staff, students, and community volunteers during a busy end-of-year period.
