Council approves groundwater-study contract amendment and new Canon lease; cleanup report noted

The Medical Lake City Council approved two resolutions and received a community-cleanup update during its May 19 meeting.
Resolution 26812 updates the contract terms with the consultant supporting a Department of Ecology-funded groundwater study. Staff said the contract amendment reflects three prior amendments with Ecology: it extends the grant expiration to June 30, 2026 and reallocates $25,000 from administrative costs to direct grant work to complete testing. Council approved the resolution; the vote was recorded with one abstention by Councilmember Richard Fard.
Resolution 26814 authorizes a lease and service agreement with Canon to replace aging printers and copiers at the water-treatment plant and other facilities. Staff said replacing clunky inherited printers will reduce toner and supply expenses and provide maintenance coverage. Council approved that resolution unanimously.
Separately, staff reported on the Cleanup & Greenup event held May 9 at Waterfront Park: volunteers and partners removed 22.64 tons of waste (matching the five-year average) and placed about 10 cubic yards of material in playgrounds at Waterfront and Willox parks. The city thanked Scope and Sunshine Disposal for operational support.
