Board unanimously certifies graduates and approves multiple district resolutions

The Rockford Area Schools Board of Education certified the district's 2026 graduating class and approved a series of administrative resolutions and personnel items during its May meeting.
On a motion by Pasca and second by Eric Gordy, the board passed a resolution authorizing Rockford High School principal Paul Manard to grant diplomas to students who met Minnesota and district graduation requirements on May 29, 2026. The motion passed on a roll-call vote recorded as unanimous.
The board also approved the district's Q‑Comp annual report for 2026, accepted an itemized list of community contributions and donations, and completed final readings and approvals of MSBA policy updates. Each measure was moved, seconded and adopted by unanimous vote.
On personnel and compensation matters, the board approved an early retirement incentive intended to help eligible employees bridge health‑care costs prior to Medicare eligibility; the incentive structure ranges from $10,000 to $50,000 depending on years of service prior to age 65. The board likewise approved an addition to the district's list of probationary teachers not being renewed for 2026.
Several votes followed standard procedure: motions were made from the floor, seconded, and votes were recorded by roll call. Chair Jessica Johnson presided over the votes.
The meeting agenda was amended to add a closed session to discuss labor negotiation strategy under Minnesota Statute 13D.03; the board voted to add the item and later moved into closed session to discuss negotiation parameters.
The board adjourned after resuming open session.
