She said her group has placed 7,082 wreaths in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies and raised $3,582 for the Flight 93 Memorial in Shanksville. She publicized the online memorial, connellsvilleareaveterans.com, inviting residents to submit information for graduates who served.
Toward the end of her comments she invited police officers to accept challenge coins presented by community volunteers; the chief accepted and members of the council applauded.
The remarks were delivered during the public‑comment period and prompted applause and a request for a photograph; no council action was required.
