Woodbine Public Library reports rising use; director asks county to fund more staff hours

Jeremy Snell, director of the Three Rivers Regional Library System, briefed the Camden County Board of Commissioners on usage and programming at Woodbine Public Library and across the regional system.
Snell said Woodbine has had 25,584 visits since it opened in September 2020 and is on pace to exceed 7,000 visits this year. He said more than 51% of items checked out from Woodbine last year went to children and young adults, and that staff offer storytimes, craft programs and other services designed to support early literacy. System-wide numbers presented by Snell for the previous 10 months included 144,000 items checked out by Camden residents, 76,500 visits and 669 free programs with nearly 16,700 attendees.
Snell thanked the county for operating support that allowed increased hours at Woodbine this year and asked the board to consider increasing the library manager’s hours from 19.5 to 29.5 per week to improve operational capacity and stability. He also said the system is exploring adding a dedicated meeting room for public use at the Woodbine site.
Commissioners and attendees praised the library board and staff; the director left a one‑page summary of the statistics with commissioners and offered to answer follow-up questions.
