Monrovia sets November 3, 2026 municipal election and candidate filing schedule

The Monrovia City Council voted unanimously May 19 to call and consolidate the city’s general municipal election on Nov. 3, 2026 with the statewide general election conducted by the Los Angeles County Registrar of Voters.
Deputy City Clerk Sarah explained the resolution package (Resolutions 2026-14, 2026-15 and 2026-16) sets the offices to be filled — mayor (two-year term), two council seats and certain other municipal offices — and establishes nomination periods, candidate filing fees and campaign-sign deposits. The nomination period is scheduled to begin July 13 and run through Aug. 7, with an extended filing window through Aug. 12 if an incumbent does not file.
The council also reviewed voter information timing, mail-ballot schedules and a plan for a vote center at the library community room and an unlocked ballot-drop box on Oct. 5. Staff reminded residents that county vote centers will open 10 days before the election and that same-day conditional registration is available at polling places.
Council approved the resolutions on a unanimous roll-call vote.
Next steps: The city clerk’s office will publish candidate-information materials, host a pre-nomination information meeting on July 2, and provide links to county resources for voters.
