At its May 18 meeting the Trenton City Council took routine administrative actions including an appointment, a grant approval and a land-use referral.
Mayor presented the appointment of Michelle Tangway to the Downtown Development Authority for a term expiring May 1, 2029; the motion carried after a roll-call vote recorded by the clerk in which Councilmembers Benadetti, Kawatan/Kevin Watton (several spellings appear in the transcript), Hornbeck, Peru/Puerie and Rodriguez were recorded as "yes" and one member was recorded as "abstain." The clerk announced ‘‘motion carries.’’
The council also approved receipt and placement on file of the April 2026 33rd District Court fines, costs and fees report showing $11,819.43 received by the city, and referred a petition from applicant Anthony Misala to divide specific lots on West Jefferson to the planning commission for review and recommendation.
The Downtown Development Authority (DDA) director, Angelia Pino, presented a facade improvement reimbursement grant for 2644 West Jefferson. The DDA recommended a $10,147 reimbursement grant to cover painting, a south-side mural, an awning and doors; the grant is reimbursement-based (paid after final inspection) and will be recorded against the FY 26‑27 facade improvement account because the project is expected in fall 2026.
What happens next: the planning commission will review the petition to divide property; the DDA grant will be paid after the applicant completes the work and passes final inspection; the clerk’s roll call is part of the record for the appointment.
