Richmond council schedules June 1 budget workshop, appoints two members to new mural committee

Richmond city council set a fourth budget workshop for Monday, June 1 at 6 p.m. to continue work on the fiscal year 2026–27 city budget and appointed two members to a new mural committee the city is forming with the EDC and TIFFA.
City manager told council the city clerk and manager reviewed notice requirements and that the schedule would permit timely adoption of the budget at the council’s regular June meeting. Council moved to schedule the workshop and approved the date and time by voice vote.
On a separate motion, council appointed Mayor Tim Ricks and Mayor Pro Tem Michael Mravich to serve on the Economic Development Corporation’s mural committee for one year. The EDC, TIFFA and council previously held a special meeting on May 11 to review possible RFP language and program guidelines; council noted more work is needed on RFP nuts-and-bolts and potential building/site guidelines.
Councilmembers made short calendar and community announcements including Memorial Day observance plans; the meeting adjourned and returned to a budget workshop session.
Next steps: staff to publish the notice and agenda for the June 1 workshop; the mural committee will continue work on RFP language and program guidelines with EDC/TIFFA input.
