Godley ISD adopts Savvas K–12 math materials after divided teacher vote

District instructional staff presented the selection process used to evaluate publishers against TEA’s HQIM (High‑Quality Instructional Materials) criteria. Committee work included teacher pilots, rubrics and multiple votes; elementary feedback was split while secondary teachers largely favored Savvas. A second‑grade teacher who piloted an alternate program urged a K–12 adoption so there would be a single, coherent program from early grades through secondary.
Dr. Nicks described the board’s ask of teachers: "give Savvas a good try and use it with fidelity from start to finish so we can see where gaps may exist," and staff presented a training and support plan to accompany the adoption, including vendor-provided facilitator dates.
The board voted to adopt Savvas K–12 with print and digital materials for K–8 (to provide consumables and paper/pencil practice) and digital coverage for some secondary courses where print options are not available; trustees discussed teacher concerns and a plan for targeted support and follow‑up.
Procedure and follow-up: staff said training dates and implementation timelines are scheduled and the district will monitor fidelity of use and student outcomes. The motion to adopt Savvas as the district math HQIM passed without dissent.
