Board approves union agreements, salary adjustments and several facilities actions

The Placer Union High School District Board approved a set of personnel and facilities items during its regular meeting.
Collective bargaining and personnel: The board accepted a public-disclosure report identifying funds available for a proposed collective-bargaining agreement with the California School Employees Association (CSEA), chapter 449, and approved the district’s 2025–26 tentative agreement with CSEA that includes a 0.5% salary-schedule increase. Trustees also approved a parallel 0.5% salary increase for non-bargaining administrative and classified management confidential employees effective July 1, 2025. All votes on these personnel items were unanimous.
Legal and consent items: Earlier in the meeting the board voted to deny a tort-liability claim after a motion by Trustee Lake and second by Trustee Jeff; that denial was unanimous. The consent agenda and multiple routine items were approved without objection.
Facilities and capital projects: The board approved electrical upgrades for three athletic scoreboards at Forest Hill High School, recommending a contract with Burko to replace older electrical systems and install new circuits using restricted Facilities Fund 40 (modernization reimbursement funds that cannot be used for salaries). Trustees clarified that Fund 40 is restricted to facilities work and does not draw from the general fund.
The board also approved additional work with Sango Construction on the adult-school annex remodel using Fund 11 (adult-education funds) after the contractor expanded the planned scope of work. For a separate facilities matter, the board voted to move forward with a resolution of intent to convey an easement to PG&E to underground electrical and communications lines at Forest Hill High; the administration said most trenching will occur in the public street and that PG&E will reimburse legal fees and provide a $5,000 payment to the district facilities account.
Other business: The board adopted a resolution requesting county election services for an upcoming jurisdictional election and approved a resolution supporting SB 1126 (local audit transparency). Both carried by roll-call vote.
Next steps: Administration will implement contract work per the approved agreements, deposit PG&E funds into the restricted facilities account when received and report back to the board as procurement and installation milestones are reached.
