Committee advances Pogo expansion design reimbursement and Bike Share local match

The standing committee on May 18 advanced two related resolutions enabling the next phase of Pogo bike-share expansion. Bill 482 would authorize a reimbursement agreement with the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation for preliminary design costs, not to exceed $4 million, reimbursable at 80 percent; Bike Share Pittsburgh would provide $800,000 as a local match. Bill 483 authorizes the cooperation agreement with Bike Share Pittsburgh to provide the match and in-kind services.
Eric Setzler, chief engineer in the Department of Mobility and Infrastructure, said there is a plan for the expansion that includes about 40 additional stations and over 400 new bikes and offered to circulate the full station list to council members. "There is a plan list of for the expansion, so there's a plan for 40 additional stations and over 400 new bikes," he said.
Council members recorded an affirmative recommendation on both bills. The committee discussion did not include a full station map during the meeting; Setzler said he would provide the list after the session.
The measures are committee recommendations and must return to the full council for any final authorization or contract execution.
