Wildwood Crest commissioners pass bond ordinance, parking changes and a package of borough resolutions

The Wildwood Crest Board of Commissioners unanimously adopted three ordinances and approved a series of resolutions at its May meeting, moving forward with financing and a range of capital and administrative actions.
The commission voted 3–0 to place Ordinance No. 1488 (time‑limit parking amendments) on second and final reading and to pass it by title only. The body also approved Ordinance No. 1489, a bond ordinance authorizing $3,800,000 in bonds or notes for various borough improvements, and Ordinance No. 1490, which amends restricted parking zones for persons with disabilities. All three ordinances passed by unanimous roll call (Mrs. Fussellaro, Mr. Franco, Mr. Cabrera voting yes).
Why it matters: the bond ordinance supplies budget authority for multiple capital projects described later in the engineers’ report, while the parking ordinances adjust local enforcement and accessibility rules.
In consent and separate resolutions, the commission authorized change orders, refunds and contracts, including:
- Centennial Park change order No. 1 to cover irrigation repairs and lateral relocations (not to exceed $15,214.58), amending that contract to $295,814.58. - A change order for the Bayside Bulkhead replacement and flood mitigation project (not to exceed $58,937.50), amending the contract to $5,436,124.50. - Acceptance of grant funding including Cape May County’s 250th Anniversary grant program and a Greater Wildwood tourism arts festival grant, and a municipal budget amendment tied to the NJ Division of Highway Traffic Safety mobilization grant. - Authorization of a negotiated contract for vending machines after two no‑bid attempts, award of the boroughwide electrical services contract, and an agreement with Robert Lloyd as Chief of Police. - Appointment of John Davis to the Wildwood Crest Tourism Development Commission (term to Dec. 31, 2027). - Administrative actions including refunding CoreLogic for an overpayment, refunding mercantile/tourism fees to Joe Abuski, designation of May 14–23 as National Public Works Week, issuance of a pedaling truck license to ENT ICE LLC, and designation of August as Veterans and Military Appreciation Month.
All motions listed above were adopted by unanimous roll call unless otherwise noted during the meeting. The board also approved transfer of title for a 2017 Ford Police Interceptor Explorer to the Cape May County Fire Marshall, accepted various department reports for the month ending April 30, 2026, and approved minutes from April 15, May 6 and a special meeting on April 29, 2026.
The meeting closed the public portion of the agenda and prepared to convene in executive session to discuss personnel and potential litigation matters.
