Library trustees ask Daly City Council to recognize local Youth Poet Laureate

The Daly City Library Board of Trustees voted on May 19, 2026 to ask the Daly City Council to present a certificate recognizing Khloe Chow’s achievement as Daly City Youth Poet Laureate. A trustee moved that the board request council recognition; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote.
Khloe Chow was noted in the board’s report for advancing from regional competition to the national Youth Poet Laureate commencement event in Omaha; the report said she won the Western U.S. regional competition and was a finalist at the national event. Trustees praised her regional accomplishments and supported forwarding a certificate request to the council.
Board members agreed to forward the request to city staff for scheduling at a future council meeting. The motion was approved by unanimous voice vote; five trustees were present for the meeting.
The board also approved the meeting agenda and the April 21 minutes earlier in the session. The board’s staff said they will follow up with city staff and report back on scheduling for the council recognition.
