County to consider accepting $3,440 EMS training funds and donating surplus CERT trailer to neighboring county

During the May 21 work session, emergency-services staff asked the Dawson County Board of Commissioners to accept a $3,440 payment from the Georgia EMS Association that would offset costs for an advanced EMT class taught by the county’s EMS academy. Staff said the trainees were part of a recent recruit class and have advanced to advanced EMT certification.
Deputy emergency-management official Lucas Ray asked the board to consider donating a surplus Community Emergency Response Team trailer to a neighboring county that is forming a search team and lacks grant funding. Ray said the transfer would support regional mutual-aid capabilities and requested the board consider voting that night to expedite logistics so the recipient county can begin team formation.
Commissioners asked clarifying questions about timing and process. Staff did not finalize either action at the work session; both the acceptance of funds and the proposed donation will be placed on a future voting session agenda for formal action.
