Staff postpones Stanger gravel-pit hearing; council told a full new zoning/subdivision ordinance is coming

Planning director Hal Jensen told council that the Stanger gravel-pit application in Inkom would not proceed on June 10 because the applicant elected to withdraw the request pending additional work. Jensen said staff had reviewed potential shortcomings with the application and that a future date would be set when the applicant is ready.
Jensen also briefed the council on a near-complete rewrite of the county zoning and subdivision ordinance. He said the ordinance is effectively new and that a redline may not exist; staff committed to prepare a short summary with the most significant changes (for example, changes to open-space requirements) and to distribute the draft ordinance to council members in advance of the public hearing so they have adequate time for review.
